Many orders are placed 4 - 9 months before delivery to stores, giving ample time for production and avoiding the perils of over production and the risks of holding large quantities of stock.
In addition, we can usually negotiate a deposit, which is paid to the brand before they start production, and can be used to finance this process. The balance is usually paid before shipping and there are no returns.
Taken together, the duel advantages of orders being paid for before production starts and being self-financed by a deposit, makes selling wholesale the lowest risk and most effective way of scaling a fashion brand.
